State of Illinois Chiller and Cooling Tower Replacement Research & Collection Center Springfield, Illinois

WES designed a new cooling tower and associated pumps for the State of Illinois Capital Development Board. The project consisted of replacement of (1) water-cooled chiller, (1)cooling tower, associated pumps, and (6) new air handling units, including new controls, heat exchanger, and condensate return units for the building housing items for the State Museum for the Department of Central Management Services.

Project Features:

• Project was constructed in phases to make sure all systems were not down at the same time.
• 200-ton R-134A water-cooled chiller.
• Closed circuit cooling tower.
• Waterside economizer.
• New DDC temperature controls to replace existing pneumatic system.  
• Variable speed pumping for the chilled water system.
